Sauna in the apartment with your own hands

Sauna in the apartment with your own hands

The sauna has a rather ancient story, its various varieties over the centuries have regularly served people of different countries. The sauna in the modern sense originally appeared in Finland. Its main difference from the Russian bath is a higher temperature (up to degrees Celsius) and low air humidity (not more than 30%). As a rule, saunas are sheathed with wood of conifers, which, heated to high temperature, emits aromatic substances, making a stay in the sauna even more comfortable and pleasant. In addition, such wood has bactericidal properties.

Nowadays, saunas are being built not only outside the city. It is possible to place a sauna in an apartment building. It should be borne in mind that the arrangement of a sauna in an apartment with your own hands requires compliance with certain rules. First of all, it is necessary to ensure sufficient ventilation and effective waterproofing of the room. Compliance with these rules contributes to the rapid drying of wooden structures and prevents their damage. The area of the sauna should be at least 4 kV. meters, and if you want to foresee the shower and place to relax, at least 9 kV will be required. meters.

If you decide to install a sauna in the apartment with your own hands, you have two main options. You can buy a ready -made sauna and install it yourself – this option, of course, will cost more. An alternative option is to mount a sauna from scratch yourself. In the latter case, you will need an assistant, since some details of the home sauna have a fairly large size, and you will not be able to mount them alone, especially when it comes to lining the ceiling.

The assembly of the sauna begins with the installation of the base frame, which is laid in a strictly horizontal position. Separate elements are connected to the groove and crest. Wooden panels are installed on the mounted base frame that form the walls of the sauna. Their installation should start from the far corner. Between themselves, the panels are connected using screws of the desired length. After that, the ceiling coating is laid. Elements of the ceiling sheathing should fit tightly to each other, without forming the cracks. For a more reliable sealing of the seam between the ceiling and the walls in the corner, the ceiling filler is strengthened using screws. A sunbeam is installed on the wall rails, a wooden grill is laid on the floor.

The main part of the sauna, of course, is the stove. As a rule, when installing saunas in the apartment with your own hands, electric stoves are used for yourself. The more powerful the stove, the faster the room of the sauna warms up. It is recommended to buy a stove with a capacity of at least three kW -with such a stove to warm up for a few minutes. If the house is equipped with electric slabs, then the furnace can be connected to the phase to which the plate is connected. Residents of houses with gas stoves solve the issue of connecting a furnace will be somewhat more difficult, since in such houses I have more rigid restrictions on power. In this case, it is better to make a small sauna and insulate the walls well so that the room is warmed up faster.

Installation of electrical wiring for the sauna should be carried out by an electrician. For the energy supply of the heating element and lighting devices inside the walls, pipes are laid through which an electric cable is further extended, which is connected to the supply network through a power switch, protective devices and thermostat.
