Installation of cabinet door.

Installation of cabinet door.

For a cabinet, you can use doors of various styles. You will need two doors, each 450 mm wide and 1708 mm high. I propose to use three hidden loops with full overlap due to a large door size. Using this type of loops facilitates the calculation of the door width.

I prefer that the door covers the lower bar and create a overlap on the upper bar of 6 mm. The distance from the lower bar to the inner edge of the upper bar is 1701 mm (67 inches). Add 6 mm for overlap, and the height of the door will be 1708 mm. This is a standard method for calculating the height of the door for cabinets with doors with a full overlap.

The width of one or two cabinet doors is also easily calculated. Measure the inner width of the cabinet. In this case, it will be 876 mm. If you have vertical bars in the internal space of the cabinet, keep in their size.

In our case, however, the internal edges of the bars are installed flush with the inner surface of the walls of the cabinet. Add 25 mm (1 inch) to this size and get the total dimensions of 901 mm. Thus, the cabinet will require two doors 450 mm wide and a height of 1708 mm.

Flat doors or doors with a convex central panel can be made using a circular machine. You can do without shaped milling cutter.

In the following articles I will tell you how to make doors with your own hands.
