Collection, transportation and disposal of waste in France

In France, the garbage industry is aimed at organizing the collection and temporary storage of waste so that subsequent transportation and disposal are economically effective and do not pollute the environment. The collection and removal of garbage in French is a fairly simple process, but thought out to the smallest details.

The basis of the French approach is the conscious attitude of citizens to the problem of household garbage. The readiness of the population is not only scrupulously sorting waste and teach this to their two-three-year-old children, but also to use biologically decomposed packaging materials creates the necessary base for processing. And state propaganda plays an important role in this, so, a week of struggle against household discharge is held in the country annually. Children in French schools study “ecological etiquette”, which also includes the problem of household garbage. A few years ago, a national scientific project was launched, which aimed at solving the problem of secondary use of concrete structures after their dismantling. The state is ready to invest 1 million of the required 5 million euros in the implementation of this program.

To date, about half of the waste collected is still burned in order to obtain electricity and hot water. The small part is subject to burial in compressed forms at landfills. But the purpose of the French government is the secondary processing of household and other waste of human activity. Reciccing has a significantly less negative effect on the environment, moreover, it allows you to create a large number of additional jobs, which is relevant for the French economy, where the problem of unemployment is acute. Cardboard, paper, glass, plastic, textiles and metals today are gathering the French into separate containers and go to secondary processing. Industrial waste is suitable for recycling in the overwhelming part. In addition, the main expenses of the industry are not for processing, but for garbage collection. Hence the widespread use of plants for pressing and attracting railway transport. In conditions of great distances inherent in Russia, the problem of transportation becomes especially relevant, and European experience will be useful.

Unlike Paris, garbage collection in Moscow occurs for the most part without preliminary sorting. Only 10% of household waste is sorted, and not at the initial stage, t.e. perform this function of the enterprise, and not the citizens themselves. The first experience of a separate fee failed, but the course on recycling is taken.
